One day Max’s mother took him to the shops with her when she went shopping. His mother told him, “Darling I need to do some special things so I want you to stay here and wait for me, ok?” His mother then waved goodbye and left him all alone. Max waited and waited all that day but his mother didn’t return.

Max loved his mother very much. However but he didn’t like his father at all as his father used to hit his mother often and make her cry until he went away. Now it is Max’s mother that has gone away. Yes, Max has been deserted, abandoned by the mother he loved.

That night Max slept in a big department store that he had walked into in the evening when his mother didn’t return for him. He hid in the bedding department until everyone had locked everything up and gone home. He then came out of hiding and found the food section of the department shop and ate lots of food that children like to eat. Afterwards he went back to the area where they sold beds and slept on a big bed for the night. Max was quite clever for his age. The next morning g he woke up early and went back to the food section and ate a lot more food and also drank some milk.

When the people started to come into the department store the next morning Max emerged out of his hiding spot where he had also hid the previous evening and walked out of the store.

That day Max no longer stayed where his mother had told him to stay but started to search over the shopping center for his mother. He started to call out in the crowded street, “Mum, Mum where are you…….” Many people asked if they could help him but he always shock his head and said no. An Aunt at last saw him and asked him his name. “I’m Max” he replied. “What are you doing?” she then asked. “I’m looking for my mother” Max answered. “There, there now don’t cry! Let me help you. Just follow me and I’ll help you! The lady told Max. “No” replied Max. “I must look for my mother here! It was however about two PM so Max was starting to feel hungry again. So he said, “I’m hungry but. Do you have some food that you could give me?” “Yes but it is all at my place so you will have to come with me to where I live, okay? The Aunt replied. Max then followed her to her home.

When Max arrived at the Aunt’s home she gave him lots of good food to eat. Max was feeling tired but as he had caught a cold because of all the stress he was under from loosing his mother. The Aunt could see that he didn’t look well so she showed him where he could sleep. Very quickly, Max fell asleep in the comfortable bed that the Aunt let him sleep in.

Later after Max had slept for a few hours the Aunt woke him up. “Max you are sick and you’re running a temperature so I will take you to a hospital. The doctors will fix you up there.” Max knew that the Aunt was right so he agreed to go with her to the hospital. The Aunt then called for a taxi on her handphone. Shortly afterwards a taxi arrived so they then went together to the hospital. Max had to have a drip bottle of medicine so he had to stay at the hospital for a few hours. The doctor that treated Max gave the Aunt a lot of medicine to give to Max. Little Max realized that he needed to be taken care of so he stayed with the Aunt.

Max didn’t forget his mother and often went out searching for her after he got better. His love for his mother never seemed to fade away. The Aunt loved little Max very much She also had a five year old son of her own. Her son and Max soon became inseparable friends just like close brothers. Her husband was a good hard working man that liked children. He became especially fond of little Max. So Max was very lucky as he was now part of a happy family.
