A Story From Class Twelve. By Fan Ruru. Grade 7

 One day I saw one of my good friends in the street. Her name is Helen. “How are you” I inquired. She could see that I was happy as I was smiling and looked quite contented. “I’m feeling terrible” She told me. “My boyfriend left me three days ago so my heart is torn in two. He was my one true love. Now I have nothing to live for” “What, that’s terrible” I replied to my friend. “Your boyfriend was David right, Helen?” “Yes that’s correct; David was my one true love! He is so smart and clever!”

 Many years ago the three of us were classmates. We were also good friends with each other. Helen and David had been desk mates from Grade I to grade 6. David was our monitor and was very polite and helpful. He was good at math but Helen however wasn’t good at math. David put a lot of effort into helping Helen overcome her weakness in math. Helen was able to pass the math exams easily after getting so much help off David.

 At that time at school many girls liked David very much. David was one of the top students at our school. However David was never big headed about getting top marks. After he graduated from high school he went on to study to be a doctor at the China Medical University (CMU) which was founded in Ruijin city, Jiangxi province in 1931. It is regarded as the number one medical university in China. He graduated with honors from this famous university.

 David became a doctor back here in his home city at The First People’s Hospital in Yancheng City. His parents were very pleased with him. David had a very good job as he did organ transplants as he had become a very skillful doctor. Actually he was a surgeon.

 One day as David was walking around the hospital he saw a very beautiful nurse, so he tried to chat with her as he was still single and didn’t have a girlfriend. He was very surprised when he found that this beautiful nurse was his school friend. Naturally they soon became girlfriend and boyfriend. After a couple of months of dating David sent 99 beautiful roses to Helen one day. At this stage David wanted to marry Helen.

 Then one day soon after everything changed. All of a sudden David started avoiding Helen. Then he actually told Helen that he didn’t want to be her boyfriend any longer. Soon after this David disappeared from the hospital. He just didn’t turn up for work one day. Helen of course thought that David hated her so much that he had left the hospital and moved to another city to work of perhaps even overseas.

 I tried to comfort Helen and said that David must be in trouble somehow. I thought that there was no way that David would have changed his personality overnight. However Helen had convinced herself that David no longer loved her or had found a more beautiful woman and fled to another city with his new love.

 After Helen left me I decided to go and ask my father who was a policeman to check where David lived to see if he had indeed moved. My father first contacted the hospital to find David’s address.  Then dad got a locksmith to go with him to open David’s apartment so he could search to gain some information as to what had happened to David.

 My father found a letter that David had left with a terrible story in it. It told how a big time businessman was trying to force David to kill a perfectly healthy person for body parts for himself. The Businessman wanted many new organs for his own body as he had drunk too much alcohol plus he was a heavy smoker. My father then knew that David had probably been kidnapped to perform these operations.

I contacted Helen and told her that my father had found that David was in some kind of trouble and not to tell anyone else that the police were investigating David’s disappearance. I said that it was most likely that David had been trying to protect her by dissociating (separating) from her. Helen was very relieved to hear that David probably still loved her. Now of course she would threat (worry a lot) over David’s safety. I couldn’t of course tell Helen the real story. The only reason I had said anything was that I was worried that Helen might suicide over having David leave her.

Plain clothes detectives and my father set up a watch on the home of the businessman to make sure that they caught everyone. Shortly after setting up their surveillance (watch) on the businessman’s home they saw a pizza delivery man turn up with many pizzas so they knew that David and the victim were most likely inside. One of the detectives grabbed hold of the pizza delivery man and took him to an unmarked police van where another detective changed clothes with him. It was quite an experience for the pizza delivery man. The detective then delivered the pizzas. Once he was inside the home he accepted the money for the pizzas but held the door open on the way out for the other police to swarm (rush) in and catch all the bad guys.

 David was of course still alive but so was the intended victim as David had refused despite being tortured to cut up the man for parts. The businessman had pulled a gun to fight the police but three of the police pumped many bullets into him until he was very, very dead. The businessman had an operating room set up in his house. He wanted to live for ever and ever and thought that he could continue to get other peoples body parts as his own wore out. He was such an evil man. Anyway now he is a very, very dead evil man. This is the best kind of evil man to have.

 My dad handed his handphone to David after he had dialed Helen’s number. Dad said there was a very worried young lady on the phone that loved him very much. I was a bridesmaid soon after at their wedding. I gave Helen a big box of quality chocolates as a wedding present as she loves chocolates. We will of course be best friends for ever.
