Hello, welcome to my site.  I have started this site to give my students encouragement to both read and write. As can be seen I am teaching at Yancheng Middle School which is the leading middle school in the shire of Yancheng. Yancheng is in the province of  Jiangsu here in China.

For the first semester my lessons consisted of having my students read short stories after myself. The second part of my lessons has consisted of supplying twenty two new sentence beginnings for each class period and having my students complete the sentences. The have also had to match groups of sentence beings with mixed sentence ending. The aim of this kind of teaching has been to have my students learn the way that we us words in the English language. Each language has its own grammar. Grammar follows the way we naturally speak. A well read person automatically uses good grammar whether or not they have studied grammar.

 So anyway after having my students read lots of stories along with practicing constructing English sentences I have been offering them the choice of doing sentence building exercisers or writing short stories or conversations.

 I have for a number of years now been writing conversational scripts that I have had my students reading after me and then pair working on. I stated using some stories off KidsPud after finding their site on the Net. The reason I liked KidPub was that the stories there are written by the same age group as my students here in China. Young people like to read stuff written by other students their own age. They have similar thinking and interests.

 Now what I am doing is having my own students write stories for me during class. At the end of class I collect their finished stories. Some students will write a story over two classes. A number of stories I can nearly rewrite word for word but others I have to add or change things considerably to make the story more interesting plus make the story flow better.
